I was impressed by Romania since I received answer from ANTER that I can join their great team (yaaaay). I didn’t want to wait for visa and all requirement things I just wanted to go and to work. I knew from the beginning that it won’t be easy, but that it’s kind of challenges that everyone should live through. My name is Iryna and I’m going to tell you about my trip from Kyiv to Craiova. It took me two days, because I chose the long way (and also the cheapest one ;) ). First, I have train from Kyiv to Chernivtsi. I spent some hours in this small and cozy city and then I have bus to Bucharest. My tickets told me that I would arrive at 6 a.m. but in reality I came to Bucharest at night. I asked a bus driver to stop near the hostel that I booked and he did it (thanks God), because I could lose myself. During my trip in bus from Chernivtsi to Bucharest the landscapes were the same to Ukrainian that’s why I had a feeling that I still at home. As I booked all the tickets in advance including for the train from Bucharest to Craiova, I had some hours at the morning to discover the city. But it wasn’t normal discovering, I run all the time. Literally run. I run to be in time on Free walking tour (yeap, in Bucharest there is such service). I didn’t stay till the end of excursion and I run to see something more and to eat. I found very cheap place in the city centre, I didn’t expect such luck! And then I was running to the hostel. Fortunately, the hostel was in 10 minutes walking to train station, but still I was running! I had a huge luggage and it was a real challenge for me. Then I got to the station I had just 6 minutes to find my train and my seat. To find the train was easy, but there wasn’t my seat! I had seat number 68, but there is no such number at all! In general my trip in the train was nice and relaxing and people helped me a lot. The thing that I enjoyed a lot that the majority of people talk English. It’s very nice for the person who doesn’t speak Romanian. Finally I got to Craiova where Alex (ANTER’s worker) met me. He took me to my apartment in the city center. In the very center. But, truly speaking, the flat doesn’t matter something, the main thing is people. People with whom I live and work make Romania and consequently Craiova more beautiful and comfortable for me. Our big volunteer family, I love you, guys.
